Prices don't come down, because that's deflation which is VERY, VERY BAD for the economy. Deflation leads to spirals that turn into economic depressions.
You want prices to stabilize, and for incomes to catch up (and average hourly incomes *have* outpaced inflation for over two years now). 1/2
