#whalewednesday Last week I was hired by the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History to assess three whale-bearing fossil concretions in their garden prior to a move ahead of their renovation, as well as clean them off and consolidate them with glue. 🐬🦖🧪

How well do you know your whales? Can you identify whale species by their calls? Test your knowledge by listening to these six whale calls and try to figure out which whale is which.

Wowowowow ! We saw a whale this morning 🐋

This humpback turned up so close to our bow, we only just had time to idle our engine before it passed in front of the boat 😲🤯🤯

For #WhaleWednesday how about this Bronze Age dagger from a burial in Forteviot, Perthshire. It’s made from bronze and gold, with a sperm whale’s tooth as the hilt!
