On to 1580, and Margery, now Mrs Whitehand, is apparently fed up with him, and has a 'friend' called John Shawe. She allegedly prepares some poisoned herring for his dinner, warning Shawe not to eat the fish; Whitehand swells up and dies, leaving Margery a very wealthy young widow. Instead of... 6/

Visitors in November admiring the view. Runsa, an Iron Age hillfort in Sweden, was strategically situated on a 30 metre tall rock promontory in Lake Mälaren, with views towards Sigtuna. The ancient fort covers an area of 200 x 100 metres. Photo: Richard Whitehand. #HillfortsWednesday

Officially obsessed with the story of Margery Hoare/Whitehand/Hungate and wish the best for her, though I can't say I'm holding my breath for a happy ending.

A bit later, in 1577, and Margery is a maid in an upmarket London house and meets a rich upholsterer called Whitehand, and they marry, believing that her marriage to Hoare is now invalid. The bishop of London, Aylmer, seems to be encouraging this; he got some expensive textiles as a thank-you. 4/

... prison but then started converting other people etc. What I'd been hoping for is some more info on the amazing case of Margery Whitehand, but it isn't there and now we'll probably never know what became of her. Anyway, I once again recommend the brand-new edition of this Council register. 3/

Alena Whitehand saved the world (twice) and then retired to breed housecat-sized displacer beasts.

I like getting to check in on retired TTRPG characters. I haven't played her in a decade, but Wizard of High Sorcery Alena Whitehand is spending her autumn years perfecting lightning-based spells, and breeding housecat-sized non-evil displacer beasts (displacer kitties).

Shif Whitehand. Sold her soul to return from death and see her friends again.

Did get a cool axe with her infernal contract attached to it, so it's not all bad.

Did you guys know there's a minor character in Robin Hood, Gilbert Whitehand(s), who is considered to be nearly Robin's equal in archery and a badass Merry Man and... almost nothing else is known about except they reference his hands like that.

That's weirdly useful for me on something I'm doing.

Old news about a man long dead but apparently numbers of humans, unlike other animals on Earth, don't learn the first time.
These are real enemies that are alive and threaten humanity, like putin, musk, trump, North Korea and China. Why not dig up the ghost of Alvarez of the WhiteHand of Guatemala?
