Beautiful sunsets over golden sands on the southeast Cornish coast. This is Sharrow beach, one of the many superb beaches and coves along Whitsand Bay.

It would be lovely to see the sun setting from a Cornish beach once more. This was the view from Freathy Beach on Whitsand Bay in SE Cornwall from a couple of years ago.

I had no time for painting yesterday, but I've managed to squeeze in a quick session this morning to produce No.8 in my series of small #Cornwall #Coast #watercolour pictures. This one depicts #RameHead at the eastern end of #WhitsandBay

Cruising beside the ocean along the edge of Whitsand Bay. So good for the soul.

My grandfather, Ernie Hill, built at least three chalets on the cliffs on #WhitsandBay; The Dell, Clovelly and The Homestead
The Homestead, on Tregonhawke, was my home in the early sixties when my father left the RAF
Can you imagine? Ten years old and running around those cliffs and beaches all day?
The good people at the Guardian asked me to write about what “home” means to me, so I wrote about my childhood summers in southern Cornwall in the 1980s, building sandcastles and eating pasties. Is this what a sanctuary is made from? It’s a whole-hearted yes from me:
On the towering cliffs, my family found a sanctuary. It still pulls me back today | Kat Lister
My grandmother called it the Haven – a shack perched high above the beach. Years later, another special woman rekindled my love of that place, says author Kat Lister
