I gained my first 35k followers on Twitter by posting a daily news roundup about Wikileaks. Basically I scraped Google every 12 hours and posted the results
One of the things old Twitter got right was you really could amass a big following and have a good time simply by demonstrating expertise in some niche topic, then posting reasonably well the rest of the time. You could gain status through actual merit.

Maybe I completely missed this when it happened, but was there ever any coverage of the fact that Wikileaks now quietly throw a 500 error when you try to access the 2016 DNC hack-and-leak?
Literally nothing else on the Wikileaks site errors out in this way.
