Ok here’s my very first willet! Willet please you to heap praise upon this fine feathered friend? Captured on Cape Breton on the Ceilidh Trail south of Mabou. 🪶

A willet in mid stride near the shore of Cape Breton on the western side. One leg up out of the water, some grasses obviously able to stand brackish conditions here. Long straight beak, mottled camouflage pattern in browns and whites on its body. Whoops! I think the willet may have spotted me. Willet stay or willet go? Now seen in profile facing the other way, the willet thinks about taking off. In flight, we see the stunning black and white wingtips of the willet.
