“Doomscrolling” is so limited. Today I have also doomedited, doomresearched my next story, and I’m about to doomeat a frozen doomburrito. You gotta be open to new doomexperiences.

Here’s my early #WOTY2024 nomination for most creative: “the X I [nonce irregular past tense verb derived from X]”. Now seen on Reddit and Instagram. Interestingly, both have [ʌ].

"rawdog" is the overall #woty2024 as decided by the American Dialect Society. Ben Zimmer now has to explain this choice to the press. #ads2025

Coming back to my room from the #woty2024 nominations session at #ads2025, I stopped by the hotel and got a couple of slices of pizza at the hotel convenience store, not realizing that I needed to ask how big they were, because when I sat down to eat I found each "slice" was a quarter pizza.

Pretty sure my vote for ADS #WotY2024 is going to be for "slop". (I'll be astonished if that isn't already on Ben's list for computing/technology/internet WotY, but I'll make sure to go to the nominating session just to be certain.)

For example, the #WotY2024 decision is being held at #LSA2025. In this essay, I wi

Weird for #WOTY2024, I’m calling it now!
It is truly wild how simply calling these freaks 'weird' has proven such an instantaneous cheat code. Brains so cooked from years in fuckless online sadism chambers, they can't pretend to be normal for five seconds, even when their ability to do so is literally the topic at hand.

For Lang Change, Neil Hutchinson’s article in emag108 on WOTY2024, Brain Rot, Brat, Manifest or Demure? is a really good read. He looks at processes of change and links them to AO2 concepts - all good for Paper 2 essays.
