Blown the book budget this month so while waiting for shortlists, I've gone to my shelves for previous winners and earlier books by shortlisted authors. Started Time Shelter and it's wonderful.

From an article on Women'sPrize longlist in yr 2000. So confounding was theme of migration in the novels that judge Polly Toynbee said: "After reading them all, you look at mothers begging with babies in their laps-Romanians or whatever-and you think, those kids are going to write a book some day”
