This is the world's first isothermal #map. Created in 1823 by Woodbridge based on data collected by Humboldt himself. Reasonably accurate I'd say. Lovely piece of #history and #cartography. Source: buff.ly/2AwxBcj

For someone who spends a lot (too much?) time thing about early medieval seascape, a visit to the Sutton Hoo ship project in Woodbridge amounts to an afternoon well spent

Yes, exactly that, Woodbridge was one of 3 along with Manston in Kent and Carnaby in Yorkshire, all on the coast so damaged aircraft could land as soon as possible. Manston was converted from an existing airfield and still had Meteor jets based there for a while, but the others were purpose built.

Hi, yes… Sutton Hoo… Woodbridge,Suffolk. And they did some Geo Physics last year, and have just started another archaeological dig… exciting. The 2021 film ‘The Dig’ was based on the boat. All Anglo Saxon back in Ye Olde times!! 😊👋

Woodbridge, based in Toronto, and the Thompson family, all Canadians, own an 85% stake in the Globe and Mail.

The Globe and Mail did the original article. Everyone else is just plagiarizing it.

Post Media are the big boys and yes, foreign investment is a major problem with Canadian media.

Postmedia, a foreign-owned right-leaning media conglomerate, owns 116+ news outlets including Ottawa Citizen, Montreal Gazette, & National Post. They control 90+% of Canadian daily/weeklies & as an org focus on decimating local media

I claim to be internationaly reknowned based on a German couple who wandered into a reading in Woodbridge library, thankfully doubling the audience.
A poet of my acquaintance was prone to reciting their poems so rapidly, with no discernable break between them, that nobody could understand them.

I feel like this is an example of how deeply "rural areas / small towns are the only real places" is embedded, not just on the righ. In 2020, the DC metro area was 35% of VA population. But it's pushed aside as "a very small part of VA".
