#WordWednesday: "calaverita" (Latin American Spanish, from Mexico). A little skull. Around Día de Muertos, also a short rhyming poem that playfully imagines a living person's death. Affectionate, satirical, very funny. 💀 #LanguageLearning

It's time for another #WordWednesday! If you really knew how to work the dance floor, they called you this. What do you think? Should we bring it back from the 1920s to the 2020s?

Word Wednesday: today is International Translation Day. Italian has a phrase for the whole profession's dilemma: "traduttore, traditore," translator, traitor. Every translation betrays the original a little to serve the reader. ⚖️ #WordWednesday #LearnItalian

Little flipping b*tches (wentelteefjes): French toast. The word teef used to indicate a certain form of pastry or cake, but these days, it sounds a bit odd. Perhaps we should go with the French: pain perdu, or 'lost bread'.
