Sometimes I miss reading pretentious (in a good way, young artists SHOULD bristle with pretension) literary fiction by under-thirties about deep passion and heartache and aspirations and the like. Who're the best wordsmiths these days reaching for the stars? I don't even know where to look!

I think two things here. First, AI writing is not obviously terrible, even when it's 100% AI. I am not very good at picking it out in A/B tests, that's for sure.
Second, I think a lot of writing is now AI-assisted, in which the human has the idea, the AI wordsmiths it, the human modifies that, 1/2

Comic Artist Pro Tip #56- If you've begun work on a script that the writer hasn't completed, try to draw your character(s) with some sort of bag or backpack, because you'll inevitably get a panel description from the writer that says "he pulls out some rope"( or a sandwich, a lock picking kit, etc).

I hate generative AI being shoved down my fucking throat. It's not the best thing since sliced bread.
People who use gen AI go make shit and claim it as their own are at best okay wordsmiths, not fucking artists or (in my area) musicians.
