For #WorldBirdsOfPreyWeekend a Common Buzzard
Sinuous waterweed in the clear water of Eelsfoot Drain. Flushed a woodock from the fringing poplar belt. Sentinel Buzzard on a pile of uprooted trees, in the sun's last glow, as skylarks in the stubble, thrushes & corvids headed to roost, exchanging quiet comfortable sounds. 5/5

Gotta admit, breast feathers of this roadkill pheasant are a masterpiece. (Someone must have designed a tweed to emulate this...?)
& who knew what feathery boots are worn by Tawny Owls (also a roadkill, in this case salvaged - anyone want it - fresh but body largely eaten?) 5/7

For #WorldBirdsOfPreyWeekend another Barn Owl
Delightfully confiding (ringed GV43..) Barn Owl out and about at 4pm, clearly eschewing its usual crepuscular breakfast, unable to resist an early one in the beautiful afternoon sunshine, before the storm arrives.

A barn owl successfully quartered a clear fell in the brilliant evening light, and seemed to want to accompany me for part of my walk, apparently enjoying the audience.
