Liam Gallagher, the Oasis frontman, expressed his dissatisfaction with the halftime show during the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on July 20, 2026. The performance featured a star-studded lineup including Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS, Burna Boy, and the Muppets. Gallagher described the event as 'like a bad trip,' joking that his 'spiritual socks' prevented him from losing his composure. The show began with Madonna's energetic performance of her hits 'Music' and 'Danceteria,' followed by brief appearances from BTS and Jason Sudeikis as Coach Ted Lasso. Other highlights included Shakira and Burna Boy's collaboration, a performance by the PS 22 Chorus, and a rendition of Coldplay's 'We Dance.' Gallagher's critique comes after England's loss in the semifinals, which shifted focus to the Spain-Argentina final. The article also mentions the upcoming release of the documentary 'Don’t Look Back in Anger,' documenting the Gallagher brothers' comeback. The halftime show, while entertaining, sparked mixed reactions, with Gallagher's comments adding a layer of celebrity critique to the event.
