XRISM directly observed the stellar outflow being captured by the compact object. That captured material powers strong X-ray flares.

Excellent thread on using #RadioAstronomy (telescopes on the ground) and #XrayAstronomy (telescope in space) data in collaboration to try and measure what the heck matter is doing inside neutron stars / pulsars (we still don't fully understand how matter behaves in such extreme conditions).
