There are English subtitles, but folks learning French will find the language crystal clear and precise. And of course there is Wolof, too.

Just finished Ousmane Sembène's slim novel "Xala". Such a great story, so many cultural insights about post-colonial Senegal, and funny in parts too! I mean whole book is a wealthy man desperately seeking cure for impotence after marrying much younger 3rd wife.
