As somebody said to me ‘the 705 is like an iPhone, the Optima an Android phone’. Sometimes you just want something simple rather than faff! That said, I like the look of the custom software on the Xeigu.

First off I rent. Getting antenna coax in the house is difficult w/o drilling holes etc. I found a 75ohm cable TV coax that was already there. The “cable tv” is now fiber and this coax wasn’t in us. My Xeigu g90 is only a 20watt radio so I found F type to SO239 adapters for both ends.

Recently picked up this #xeigu #g90 #20w #hamradio.
My ultimate goal is to have it mounted on the rear rack of my #himiway Cobra Pro #eBike.
I plan to use it for #pota and #sota activations this summer.

I still say jt9 was the better than ft8 as a low power weak signal mode, even if...

Don't use a USB c to c cable on your Xeigu X6200 radio for connecting a pc, it won't work. You need to use a c to a cable.
I had to use a c to a cable going into a USB c dock to connect my laptop, but worked.

Ah… I use an IC-705 too. I’m either Wonder Wandibg through it, or using the Xeigu linear. 3d. Each time? Doubling the power? Wowsers.

Then, if you wanted a good entry level rig for the “High Frequency” bands, which will give you more distance, you can start off with a Xeigu G90. Several colleagues in my club at work have that radio and love it.

Been casually hunting all day w/ the Xeigu G106 CW. Best range was TX 1260 miles on 20m. Best QSO was MI where we were both QRP 339/339 but 40m was flat and it was all about QSB. G5RV abt 25’ AGL. Nice day & glad the WX was a speed bump and nothing more there.
