Today's diversion from Saga #PlaceNames and #Whisky... well it has to be #Shrooms... I think this might be Suede Bolete (Xerocomus subtomentosus AKA Boletus subtomentosus L.) Found in mixed woodland with lots of Birch. Common. #Fungi

Not as many fungal fruiting bodies on my walk today but this was a nice one... a bolete (tubular pores not gills). I think it's probably Suede Bolete (Xerocomus subtomentosus) #Cumbria

Gisteren zag ik deze en misschien is het een Sombere fluweelboleet (Xerocomus porosporus) ??

It looks like one of the xerocomelid boletes (Xerocomus, Xerocomellus and related genera). To get further you'd need to cut it laterally in two and look at the colours in the stem and the extent it goes blue.

There's a good British Boletes book by Geoffrey Kibby if you want to know more.

Rusty Bolete - Xerocomus ferrugineus
New to me
Found growing in a graveyard. Probably one of the prettiest , most ornate mushroom stems I've ever seen. There is a joke I could make here but It's only been 2 days since I've went there so I'm gonna contain myself for now.
Two mushrooms laying in the grass. One is displayed in a way to see its brownish cap. The other is displayed in such a way to see the yellow, irregular pores. The deep, red margined ridges are visible on both. Some brown capped boletes growing between some blueberry, strawberry and speedwell plants on a cemetery lawn. A closeup of the deep ridges on the stem. It becomes more red the closer you get to the apex. Some slight speckling is visible if you look closely

Boletes are fucking hard to ID and this Xerocomus (probably?!) is making me nuts. Gonna sequence it I think, MycoQuebec has opinions about the phylogeny here in North America

Perhaps the Red-cracking Bolete (Xerocomus chrysenteron sl., incl. bubalinus, cisalpinus, declivitatum, porosporus) in the neighbourhood.

広義のアワタケ属Xerocomus s.l.は多系統で、現状の分類体系では、アワタケ属Xerocomus, キッコウアワタケ属Xerocomellus, シワチャヤマイグチ属Hemileccinum, コウジタケ属Hortiboletus, ニセイロガワリ属Imleria, Alessioporus（和名なし）, Pulchroboletus（和名なし）, Rheubarbariboletus（和名なし）などに分割されている。

本菌の系統的位置はLSUを用いて解析したところ、広義のアワタケ属Xerocomus s.l.の範疇に含まれることが示唆された。北米産の2種、Boletus smithii Thiers, B. miniato-olivaceus Frostとともに属レベルのクレードを形成し、いずれ新属として記載されると考えられる。

孔口は不規則に配列し類角形である点、孔口面は均一に平らではなく不規則に波打つ点が広義のアワタケ属Xerocomus s.l.の特徴と共通している。柄の基部の菌糸体Basal tomentumは圧着した綿毛状で類白色から淡黄色。
