If Yale’s attempt to cut a deal with Trump makes you sick, please follow @standupforyale.bsky.social . We’re pushing back.
Remember when a huge portion of civil society including corporate leaders, top law firms, and elite universities decided to submit to Trump's authoritarianism? And it was legitimized because he won in 2024 with <checks notes> 49.7% of the popular vote? What now?

Yale’s decisions about its curriculum and research priorities are matters of institutional autonomy. It would violate important principles of academic freedom to haul Yale’s president in front of Congress to threaten her over research and reports published by the university and its faculty.

FiftyPlusOne publishes great polls and data but isn't required to be equivocal like the Times' data people. Bluesky is smaller than X but is where so many of the academics who actually know stuff are. My relatives may not have heard of Wesleyan but its president is way more courageous than Yale's.

Yale's Beinecke Library holds the Voynich manuscript as MS 408. The parchment tests to the 15th century, so it isn't a modern prank. An emperor, Rudolf II, paid 600 gold ducats for it.

And Yale's own page still says the text is undeciphered, whatever this month's AI headline claims.

Two thirds of the radio stations airing Yale's climate connections broadcasts sit in counties that voted for Trump.⁣

Jono Anzalone from Nebraska says folks back home fail to connect heat waves and crop erosion to the words climate change, but that plenty of climate concerned Republicans exist.

Yale's Ray Fair has forecast elections from economics alone since 1978 — no polls allowed. His 2026 midterm equation: Democratic House vote 50.9%, a coin flip. The polls say D+8.4. GDP grew 3.4% last quarter and voters are firing the incumbent party anyway. That gap is the election. #USPOL

Trump promised relief. His tariffs instead add costs for American households and businesses. Yale’s Budget Lab estimates roughly $1,100 a year per household under current policy.

Families watching every dollar deserve better than policies that make necessities harder to afford.

@cantb.bsky.social and I agree that paying Yale's president more than $800,000 per year isn't out of line for the demands of the job. The difference between full professors' and the president's salary there is also unusually low.
