So it's dyeus ph₂ter? Since to my knowledge, the yamnaya culture were the speakers of proto-indo-european, whose pantheon was headed by dyeus ph₂ter, the "sky father" who commanded the heavens

I suspect the remains were Yamnaya

The journey across the steppes could be done in under a year.

Funny, I just finished reading this book! We're all Yamnaya!! 😂

My own male line is not Yamnaya. It is from the indigenous hunter-gatherer pre-Indo-European population of Europe.

If we’re taking into account that the Kurgan Yamnaya ppl displaced all other Europeans (proven both genetically & linguistically) technically Russia belongs to Ukraine.

Don’t get me started on Zalmoxis or I’ll be here all day.

The Romans were white, which is to say, Yamnaya-descended; at least at the start.

Over time, they interbred with foriegn peoples; though their empire fell before this could become as pronounced as the comingling in Hindustan.

Romulus, or a Brahmin of his time, would be very much White to our eyes.

Hmm, the first cousins once removed appear to be 900 miles, the longer distance (that you're referring to I believe) is about remains that demonstrate how few generations might separate Yamnaya people near Roston-on-Don from the Afanasievo people near the Altai mountains.

It was considered disproven for a time before DNA evidence came and confirmed it again.

Unfortunately it’s a favourite part of history for a lot of the chuds and grouper class because they think it proves their fantasies of what migration is (while also proudly identity with the Yamnaya)

Apparently no continuity, archaeologically or culturally, between the Yamnaya and the Macedonians. I was surprised. I figured the many tumuli scattered across the central Macedonian plain, most still unexcavated, were somehow inspired by the kurgan cultures. I will soon post about the ones at Aigai.

Why yes, I do start off writing about the Yamnaya in an article about Polestar and driver engagement.

On est plutôt Yamnaya dans la famille.

Archeology and records of hallucinogenically-induced racial memory resurfacing events speak to us of even more ancient events, like the departure of the Yamnaya from Hyperborea after the last Ice Age TEN THOUSAND years ago!

Please expand your reference pools beyond the last century!

Not to get too calipers but Poles are basically the same Early European Farmers (origins in Anatolia) and Yamnaya (Russian-Ukrainian steppe) stew that I am. Ashkenazis are Levantine with a healthy Italic admixture (a lot of wives picked up in a declining Rome).

Right, the overwhelmingly populated subcontinent that developed paneer and has Yamnaya heritage is lactose intolerant

I think this is already readily apparent but the current free-time research hyperfixation is the Yamnaya (and also a bit the Botai) culture and Proto-Indo-European. Sorry to everyone for whom I’ve injected the stim phrase “Pontic-Caspian Steppe” into a conversation or went off on etymology.

The languages of the Yamnaya culture are called Indo‑European, not after a mythological character.
