Except this time it held.

I forgot to add an attribution to the quote because it’s complicated — taken from an epigraph to a collection of poems by W.B. Yeats. He attributed it to “Old Play,” some scholars think he may have written it himself.

Als barris pobres l’únic poema que hi quadra és aquell de WB Yeats que diu que “les coses s'esfondren; el centre no resisteix"

Going back in time to ask WB Yeats if he can kick Aleister Crowley down the stairs one more time as a treat for me, personally

I love a good Yeats reference and I wish this was true. But that beast slouching toward Bethlehem after 20 centuries of stony sleep is not dead. We just stopped the Gyre from widening any more. The falcon can hear the falconer again, but the fight is hardly over. The *center* might hold.

Yeats said it with admirable compression and sharper insight, but it still doesn’t fit Thomas Mann

Before anyone points it out... Yes, I know Yeats flirted with Fascism in the 1920s and fell somewhere between Centrist and Chud later in life. But the man could write some poems that still apply over a century later.
