Fun fact: my greatest advice for new TTRPG designers is to boil down yourgame pitch to ‘You are X doing Y.’
Eg: ‘You are grotty adventurers pillaging dungeons’ ‘You are criminals running a gang’ ‘You are pirates on holiday’
It helps laser focus your systems design, AND sell your game to people.

I think the biggest problem with D&D is that there is no clearly defined goal(s) to playing it anymore. There is no standardized gameplay loop (or toolsets) of challenge and reward, which makes it:
A: incredibly difficult to GM, and
B: Fizzle out, because literally why are you playing?

The thing that is most interesting, is that Tynan wrote a Google Doc describing the basics of the lore, timeline etc, and after that, everything is pretty much a blank.
The result is yourgame and stories are still canon, no matter how twisted / wrong / weird they get. Writing is easy as a result!
