A couple weeks ago, I scored a Zilog Z8000 based computer. Olivetti has beautiful designs for their devices and this one is no different. It was not a big seller so many may not be aware of it but the Olivetti L1 M20 computer ran PCOS-8000 natively and had an optional 8086 board for MS-DOS use.
The Olivetti L1 M20 (known as the M20) is shown here with a rare optional colour monitor. It is in excellent condition. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer As most M20's are black and white, here is a colour Pac Man clone on screen. There was generous documentation with the M20 that I need to scan. Disks have already been archived too.

It was probably cancelled because it used the Z8000 series CPU. Z8000 never gained popularity, probably because the Motorola 68000 took off bit time.

Z8000シリーズは1979年（昭和54年）初めに登場し、Intel 8086（1978年4月）とMC68000（1979年9月）のちょうど中間にあたるタイミングでの発表となった。

Ah! I produced a 6502 simulator for my final year project of my final year of Computer Science (year of ‘85). Did it so quickly that I got it extended to a double unit project to take a data file of instructions for any of 6502, 6800 or Z80. Even got as far as considering 68000 and Z8000

When I was a little kid, my father has the NE-Z8000 (Sinclair ZX81 Clone), with the memory expansion. After, we got the MSX Sharp Hotbit HB-8000. In the late 90s my dad's business broke and we had to give them away to move to another house.... those were good times. Now everything is fine.

Also, for the same company, using the Z8000, in a flight control computer to implement an Optimal Control system. Possibly still in service in F16s.
