#Zevachim
Zevachim has two big problems: the subject matter is genuinely difficult, and it (and nearby masechtos) was published from lower quality manuscripts than most of the standard Talmud text and the corrections based on better versions were only published as footnotes etc in the coming centuries...

My dad spent all of the time Daf Yomi was on Zevachim complaining to me about Zevachim

To whatever degree there are any issues with the flow, Horios and Zevachim are much more difficult.

The birds offered as sin offerings weren't eaten by the poor, only the priests: M. Zevachim 6:4

But AFAIK people could bring their own pigeons, buy them from sellers at the Temple, or just get the Temple staff to make all the arrangements. There wasn't a monopoly.

There is relevant discussion in Talmud Bavli, tractate Zevachim page 22a and 22b. The quality of the water can be very poor. The main issue is the capacity. Tractate Eruvim page 4b specifies a volume of at least 40 se'a, enough to cover a person completely.

There's multiple tractates in the Talmud relating to how the Temple and its associated processes functioned. See e.g. Shekalim, Zevachim, etc

Today’s daf: Why is Menachot like this? (The less talented younger sibling of Zevachim.)

Shalom friends!
Out of the fire of Zevachim & into the frying pan (…and also a slightly larger frying pan?) of Menachot! I try to get a handle on new #talmud material, and ask why“shewbread” is spelled like that. Welcome to #dafreactions Menachot 3: Deep Dish vs. Thin Crust!

“It’s geschmack to do the daf”

Talmud Traktat Zevachim hat 120 Blätter. Jeden Tag ein Blatt, nach 120 Tagen schlossen gestern alle welche diesem Programm (daf yomi) folgen den Traktat ab… jeden Tag ein kleiner Schritt.

Shalom, friends! We’ve hit the final page of Tractate #Zevachim, so I’m throwing it back—way back—for an epic #Talmudic debate between Reish Lakish and Rabbi Yochanan about the Flood (and… global warming?)

My biggest reminder that cleanliness and ritual purity aren't the same thing was about 70 dafim ago when we learned that a mivkeh can be filled with liquefied fish eyes and still be kosher (Zevachim 22a:11)

The Talmud makes a distinction between animals that "copulated with a person" and animals that "were the object of bestiality" but Zevachim 85b finally establishes that "birds cannot be the active party in an act of bestiality". They might still be disqualified for sacrifice, though. It's not sure.
