First potato harvest! This was from the bag I didn’t think would yield anything. It was the last one we topped off with soil and the first one to die off. I have five more bags that should yield more. 🤞🏻 🌱

A bee fell asleep in my first gladiolus. 4 feet tall from a Dollar Tree bulb. Several bulbs sent up a few leaves but just sat there for 2 months giving nothing. Finally one bloomed. Any tips? #zone6b #gardening #urbangardening #backyardgarden

In Samuel L. Jackson's voice "Surprise mother **ckers!" 🤣 Surprise lilies, aka naked ladies. They pop out the ground overnight and are blooming a day later. It is August and we are still having surprise perennials. The old guy that lived here last raised his family here and was an avid gardener except in his later years. Then he was moved to a nursing home and the property was mowed but not much else. Still things they planted years ago keep coming back.

Some flowers from our native plant garden. Butterfly milkweed, lavender, a chocolate sunflower, purple cone flowers, and wild bergamot. Took a while this year but the insects are all over 🥹. Found a neighborhood cat hiding in the blackberries too.

A Hummingbird clearwing moth visited the front yard native plant garden today! I've never seen one of these before. It was so freaking cool. This is exactly why we did the garden.
