You COULD HAVE HAD A FILIPINO POPE WHO LOVES GAY PEOPLE but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Organized religion continues to disappoint.

It’s the last day of my Golden Period (the Lesbian Visibility Week - Asian American Heritage Month - Pride Month chain). I was too busy to make anything for pride but here’s my AAPINH month thread
It's Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Wouldn't you like to read about a lesbian wasian cowgirl getting up to shit in a Japanese-American-flavored post-apocalypse, written by a Japanese-American lesbian (me)?

Happy AAPINH month
“‘What we saw here is unfortunately just what we see all over the country,’ Kim told @nj.com on Monday.”

“It’s sad, it’s a sad day.”

Senator @kim.senate.gov was among the crowd of protesters when federal immigration agents fired pepper balls.

As we get closer to AAPINH heritage month I’m thinking often about the way we as a diverse category have to struggle both with finding political cohesion that can move with power but also struggle against having our individual cultures and contexts erased when we’re regarded as a homogenous monolith

Joined an AAPINH women for Harris Zoom out of curiosity and Mazie Hirono just said "Kamala is brat."

Congrats to the International Examiner on a successful community voice awards gala! Wonderful to see an outpouring of support for fearless, independent journalism by and for our Seattle AAPINH communities, as well as iconic local leaders being honored.

I kinda want a starter pack of AAPINH+ writers/authors who are at the stage I am, where they might have a few short stories published in minor anthologies, but want to do more. The folks who may not have full manuscripts/novels, & definitely don’t yet have agents or traditional publishing contracts.

Yesterday, we celebrated the 2nd ever Asian American, Pacific Islander & Native Hawaiian (AAPINH) Day at the Roundhouse w/ colorful performances from local groups. House Majority Leader @reenaszcz.bsky.social, the first Asian American in legislative leadership, presided over the joint session.

Brought a Korean-inspired pork potato mushroom stew topped with fresh walking onions. But there’s sooo much food! #CKA #AAPINH #LGBTQ+

I’ve seen exactly 1 post so far re Asian Heritage Month🇨🇦 / AAPINH Heritage Month🇺🇸
Which, yes the glomming together of vastly disparate cultures is so tokenizing—as with ALL heritage months. But also it reminds people: these vastly disparate cultures exist!

So…Asian/diaspora creatives, drop your 🔗s:

To celebrate AAPINH Month, my office was invited to the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Illinois (AACCIL) Business Expo. OAG staff shared information on employment opportunities and services we provide. It was a true pleasure to celebrate among all cultures represented.

Sad to see zero uptake for this year's Asian / AAPINH Heritage Month but also, I guess, that tracks.

Anyhoo, the Asian diaspora is MASSIVE and we are here beyond May lol so idk check out new-to-you creative work by members of the diaspora on the regular, I guess
