#adaptations
His views on AI are really gross and have turned me off ever wanting to read his books or their adaptations. Ever.
Deleted my posts about Andy Weir because of the confusion one of them was causing. So just to recap, Andy is pro-AI slop now. Do with that what you will. I for one will no longer be reading his work if he’s going to be using gen-AI to “write” it.

I think it’s fascinating seeing the divide between long time anime viewers who grew up with ecchi/VN adaptations/moe vs new gens now

Fat people and ethnic people are never portrayed correctly in media adaptations. Much to think about
Every adaptation of "Carrie" has avoided making her overweight like the book character.

That makes a meaningful difference in the story, especially in the significance of the pig's blood.

In each adaptation, she's been a waif.

the spookiest thing I can think of is my favorite shoujo being ruined by their adaptations....

For "original adaptations" we're (my friends and I) are doing our own spin on characters from that we like or are attached to.

They will NOT be one to one adaptations of those characters but similar in spirit or concept to avoid any legal trouble or plagerism accusations.
Hollowell Haven is my original verse for my abandoned Dandy's World characters, new original adaptions, and is the "Secret Project" I've been teasing for months now lol

i've got a lot of faith in tv adaptations these days, and... it's dan. he should make an amityville show too, it'd fucking rule.
Are you on board with a ROBOCOP TV series?

Dan Stevens is opening up about the Prime Video reboot. He says, “There seems to be an appetite for it. The original had two elements that I’m a huge fan of: extreme violence and satire.”

Incidentally a huge reason as to why adaptations of computer games are so often bad is because they keep trying to invent ways to depict what, in the original, were primarily gameplay features rather than elements of the actual narrative.
This isn't a TK-specific problem either, it must be said. A lot of DnD tie-in novels make their characters behave as a player at a DnD game would, not a real person in a real world. Read a few of the old FR (or Dragonlance) novels and you'll start to notice the same

tokusatsu is inherently a better genre because they figured out to use ska for superheroes before comic book adaptations did

I’m honestly not interested in film adaptations of his work because they’re so chilling & beautiful, & I’d rather not my experience & imagery be overwritten by the film version…

…the exception is the upcoming Guillermo Del Toro stop-motion adaptation of The Buried Giant (which I haven’t read yet)!

but anyway read books :)

and ESPECIALLY read books without film adaptations (or ones you don’t know) because then you get to have your own special version of it in your head

some of my recs:
- Stranger in a Strange Land
- Cat’s Cradle (or other Vonnegut)
- Haruki Murakami
- J D Salinger

Salute to Seuss

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966), directed and co-produced by Chuck Jones. This timeless special shouldn't be missed every year. One of the most faithful book adaptations put to the screen. Featuring Boris Karloff, June Foray and Thurl Ravenscroft.
