Adoptees do not seek to violate anyone’s privacy. This is why unsealing birth records is vastly preferable to “let science come for your secrets,” as Lisa Munro puts it. Knowing my parentage does not violate my birth mother’s privacy, because that information is hers *and mine too.* 🥚

Working with kids means that i have to work with a bunch of adoptive parents (tone negative, i am an adoptee in favor of adoption system reform or perhaps abolition), including white families who have adopted children of color with no understanding of how to meet their needs. It's bad and gross!

Today a family lovingly recalled a late relative that always referred to their adoptee using a racial slur "as a pet name." Since i am there to provide cultural and psychoeducation i can educate and i can get in the anti racist weeds with them but cannot crash out at them! Nor fire them as clients!
