It’s the opposite of adsorbent.

Yeah, we all love out absorbent diapers, that's for sure.

But sometimes I'm really pining for an aDsorbent diaper. One where the pee just kinda pools on the inside so I can get into the splash zone. 💦

Okay, this is neat! New magnetic material can pull over 95% of microplastics (down to 30nm!) from water in under an hour, with 80% gone in 15 mins. Big potential for cleaner water treatment.
Magnetic material removes over 95% of microplastics and nanoplastics from water
Researchers have developed a magnetic adsorbent material that can effectively remove more than 95% of microplastics and nanoplastics, including particles as small as 30 nanometers, from water samples

Except peat is illegal to harvest in many places and where it can still be collected, it would deplete wetlands. So not really ecological. 😬
Discarded hair, wool and fiber made into mats are an excellent, natural option for oil spills - and use waste that would otherwise end up on a landfill.
Reusable moss-based adsorbent can help clean up oil spills
Hidden within sphagnum moss, commonly known as peat moss, is an adsorbent material that can help us combat oil spills. A study by researchers from China presents a new bio-based oil adsorbent derived ...

Just hoping it wasn’t used as a filter for something. Clean and dry preferred to “used as adsorbent….” In a reuse case.

'Geophagia' has roots in African traditional medicine, where the same mineral is called 'kalaba'.

It's hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs liquids & it's an 'adsorbent' meaning it bind chemicals/contaminants. Today, it has uses from paper manufacture, toothpaste, barrier creams & watewater treatment.

How wonderful! (I find Miller High Life to be undrinkable.)

And, to learn that a "wand type device" containing an "absorbent/adsorbent" "polypropylene resin" swooshed through your beer poses no long-term health risks.

Right?
A couple of guys from Minnesota have patented a wand that makes Miller High Life taste better.
