feeling better after writing a lil! won't share the whole thing since it's just rambles but i did like this portion.
Before he realized it, his Master had crossed the empty ballroom to meet him. A single step, or a thousand, he couldn’t recall. Something molten pooled behind their eyes, a look so all consuming that Nahiev could not ignore. He felt as though he were watching himself burn from outside his body, knowing there was little he could do when it came to their whims. His breath stilled for a moment and as the moments between stretched on, the anticipation of their touch or voice so palpable that gooseflesh rose from his skin. It seemed no matter what he did, Nahiev could never predict their movements and some small part of him hoped he never would. Mere feet apart now, their intense gaze never once faltered from his. The pair stayed like that for what felt like hours, though the clock that ticked on the wall said otherwise. Their hand reached up to cup Nahiev’s bare face, the tips of their fingers traced along the cuts that marred his face. For a moment, he thought he saw something else flash in his Master’s expression but was quickly discarded when they thumbed the corner of his eye. He leaned into their touch, as he always did, and sighed. It was these memories of them that hurt the most.
