#aerolysin
Fascinating. A gut bacteria (Aeromonas variant) makes a toxin called aerolysin that kills gut macrophages and increases inflammation in Ulcerative Colitis.

Anti-aerolysin antibodies stopped the colitis in mice. Wow!

Could this be a new treatment for UC?

The adults are also adorable little fuzzy guys, lacking the venomous spines.

The aerolysin venom cocktail also has insecticidal properties at very high doses, reducing the chance the caterpillar will be eaten or injected by other insects (wasps, etc).
