1/2 #speciesaday no. 630 is Agonum sexpunctatum. A gorgeous carabid of damp, black, peaty mud on heaths and wooded heaths. Look for it in M16 mire, where sundews, Marsh Clubmoss and Sphagnum compactum grow. Unmistakable. I have records between March and September. This was at Graffham yesterday.

A new month of #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025 takes us down to earth. I loved sketching this dude in his bed of sphagnum.

I lied i seen a little Agonum looking animal on the sidewalk when I was walking to buy cigs at the gas station hammered a week ago and there was a stenolophus lurking by the porch light waiting to get into the bathroom to die on the sink the other night

Coleóptero con un tamaño de 7 a 9,5 mm. Cuerpo de color metálico, con la cabeza y el pronoto verdes y los élitros generalmente de color rojo dorado con un reborde verde, aunque a veces pueden ser monocromáticos verdes, azules o negros. En el tercer espacio intercostal presentan seis pequeños puntos, aunque a veces son cuatro u ocho. Las antenas son negras con el primer artejo pálido y los ojos ligeramente salientes.
