there’s an alternate universe where AI products were introduced in a measured way, workers thoughtfully figured out how to integrate them into extant workflows, and reasonable leaders didn’t use them as rationale for laying people off (and legally couldn’t)

Cannot wait to hear the justification for shutting down Sora but I imagine the actual reason is that Disney suspected they were being swindled and could not work AI into their workflows without audiences noticing.

At this point, ai coding is two things: the pure engineering side of the craft, and workflows around managing the agent once the project gets large enough that it gets confused.

After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!

yeah basically the whole initial rollout and all of the apocalyptic claims were aimed at convincing executives that they should shove AI into every aspect of their workflows
and honestly that part worked pretty well, a lot of execs do that

Anyway those were some thoughts I had while being told that our entire library system will be reorganized to "center AI fluency" with "sustainable AI workflows" per recommendations by "Georgetown University's internal management consulting team that supports the delivery of world-class education."

Good thread about how ChatGPT is *not* a useful disability aid, which dovetails nicely with the reporting about how AI lowers productivity when it's forced into people's workflows
People *without* executive dysfunction are finding that using chatgpt buries them under multitasking: they have to expend more effort and attention in more tasks to check that it hasn't outputted *absolute fucking nonsense*
