The day continues on as Rosie forces Sera to confront what happened to her in the first few months in Hell; Lute decides to capture the remaining exorcists in the Embassy and raid it; Aureline has a breakdown, and Charlie, Vaggi and Rosie discuss the future. Meanwhile, Husk and Angel make plans and Alastora gets really, really drunk. 18 September 9892 Rosie As she walked down the road, she noticed every single eye that was looking in her direction. The territory wasn’t hers- yet-, but no one dared to attack her. She was an Overlord, and one of the fastest rising and most powerful in Hell. Still, the place she was looking for hadn’t changed much except for a couple of teenage-looking sinners standing near the entrance. As she turned the corner into the alley, one of them said “You don’t want to go down there, miss.” She stopped and smiled at the speaker, who was shorter than his friends and had a vaguely eel-like look to him. “And why not?” ”The monster’ll get ya,” a slightly taller one said. The girl looked a bit like a tall wolf. ”There doesn’t appear to be anyone down there.” ”She’s hiding somewhere. Maybe up above. People end up dead who go down there,” the first one said. ”I’m an overlord, I’m sure I can fight off one monster.” The wolf-girl looked nervous. “They say she can tear your soul apart.” ”And drinks your bones,” eel-boy said. ”You know, you three look like you could use jobs.” When they started to fuss, she held up her hand. “I’m Rosie, the Mayor of Cannibal Town. I don’t insist on anyone who works for me eat sinners, but if you’re interest in someplace nice to live, food regularly, and even steady employment, go to the Emporium and tell Clarita that I sent you.” Before they could object, she walked down the alley. So, I’m a local legend? She got closer to the entrance, opened the door and looked inside. The remains of her last meal had been picked clean by scavengers, but the pile of cloth she had slept on was still there, and here, protected from the acid rain and snow, the images and symbols she had tried to make with the blood of her victims remained on the wall. She stood there for a while and looked at it.

Chapter 4 of Sins of Heaven is now live. The past hangs over the hotel as refugees arrive, Sera discovers the depth of Rosie’s pain and hatred, and Alastora learns that life as a woman isn’t as easy as it seems.

The past hangs over the Hotel. Rosie’s shame at her cannibal nature causes her to justifiably lash out at Sera. Alastora discovers that navigating the world as a woman is a little less safe than she had thought. Husk has a secret he’s unwilling to tell. Meanwhile, Charlie meets with the Sins and Vaggi greets some of the refugees. For Lute, the weight of what she did continues to ache, but a friendly and in love seraph does her best to help 9 January 9999 Rosie The nightmare of her earliest months in Hell faded slowly as she opened her eyes on the dim light of her bedroom. She took several deep breaths before sitting up on the edge of the bed. She sat there for a while, looking at the shadows her furniture made. Her stomach churned telling her she needed to eat, and yet, the thought of eating the sinner flesh she knew she needed repulsed her. Charlie and Vaggie won’t judge me. That almost makes it worse. She walked into the bathroom, feet making next to no noise on the floor. Her mind was vaguely disconnected as she relieved her bladder and showered. I haven’t taken a lover who wasn’t one of my people. They couldn’t understand. They wouldn’t understand. She felt her hands shake. ”It’s not a craving, it’s a need. Like an addiction. You need to eat sinner flesh, Eve had told her over a century ago. She wasn’t sure if it was the price for her power or part of the curse Adam had lain on her. She walked into her bedroom, sparing a momentary smile for the three terrified exorcists behind the door to the spare bedroom. They probably hadn’t slept well. I wonder if they know the door isn’t locked. They could have escaped in the night. She carefully laid out her clothes for the day. A crimson skirt, white blouse, pink underbust corset and crimson jacket. It took her a little time to get dressed. Her practiced fingers used the zipper hook she had to get her blouse zipped up. I need to eat and I wonder if I should give those three some more food. As she carefully straightened her blouse, she felt revulsion at the idea of eating anything, and especially sinner flesh. She placed her hat on her head, promising herself that she would eat something at the hotel. She took a deep breath, let it out and walked into the hall knowing she needed to bind her prisoners to get them to the hotel without them being seen.

Jade: Chapter 4 of Sins of Heaven will be going out on Friday. This chapter covers half a day as things get sorted out, worked on, and explode slightly.

So, here’s a little snippet between Alastora and Husk.

Alastora is, despite now being a woman, still as clueless about certain things as before.
<u>Alastora</u> “You have a little bit of lipstick smudged on your face,” she pointed out to Husk as the bartender entered the elevator. She was coming down from her suite to get some breakfast and head out to the bank. “Did you enjoy someone’s company last night?” ”Don’t know what you’re talking about,” Husk said, looking his grumpy self. Her smile broadened. “Oh come now, I understand you used to be quite the playboy.” ”Just stay out of my business,” the disgraced overlord said. The elevator stopped and they stepped out into the hallway. It finally struck her that no one had entered or left the hotel that night other than Rosie, who did so close to midnight and she doubted that her friend would have been entertaining Husk. “Finally gave in to Angel Dust’s temptations?” “He wasn’t here last night.” She stopped and watched as Husk walked a little further down. She highly doubted that Husk would have slept with Niffty as they had never shown interest in each other, Emily was too wounded, as was Lute, and Sera was a lesbian. She held little doubt that Vaggie would refuse to share Charlie with a man. It didn’t help that the Husk’s demeanor was a bit more surly than usual. “Is there a problem?” “I don’t want to talk about it,” the bartender said, turning around. ”You know that I will continue to ask until you give me an answer.”

“I don’t know how to be a woman. I went from learning how to be one to being in Heaven’s army.” ”So, in a hundred years, you never figured it out?” “Not really.” “The question isn’t are you a woman? You know how to be that. It’s, what kind of woman are you?” “Alice is talking about dresses, makeup, heels.” ”Do you want that?” She smiled nervously. “What if that’s not me?” “Then, ma chère,” Alastora stood up and with a little twirl and a broad smile said, “you keep going and figure out what kind of woman you <i>are</i>. I’ve known this was me for a long, long time.”

Some of these trans women said we weren’t allowed to be trans because our family didn’t reject us. Our family could be awful, but they weren’t transphobic.

Over time, we internalized their transphobia into us. As we’ve been writing Sins of Heaven, we’ve written Alastor as a trans woman (Alastora)👇

While life continues normally for the residents of Pentagram City, Adam captures the leadership of Heaven, but he never expects them to fight back. Sera, Lute and Emily flee as the few exorcists loyal to Heaven rescue those they can. Those who make it out end up in Hell, where some find quick shelter while others have to cope with survival. And for Charlie and her friends, the arrival of two seraphim and an exorcist upends their plans permanently. 6 January 9999 Alastora ”Good evening all you wayward sinners. It’s good to be back on the air. I’m sorry for the absence, but now I’m broadcasting from up here at the Hazbin Hotel where I am helping Princess Charlie Morningstar with her…attempt to redeem souls and stop the exterminations. ”You might have noticed something different…well, introductions are in order. Or reintroductions. This is Alastora, and…shall we say that the changes over the last seven years have been more than helpful to my mental state. Still, I’m betting it’s a shock to my dear old friend Vox, and at least some of you all. ”How about some music to round out the evening?” Alice smiled at her. Her shadow was barely visible in the dimness of the booth, but that was alright. The manifestation of her fractured mind tended to show off emotions better than she ever did. ”Do you think Vox’ll have anything to say about it?” ”No doubt he’ll try to spin this into something.” ”I wonder why that stupid snake thought he could just get into our little hotel and spy on us,” Alice said. ”He was desperate for Vox’ respect. More fool he.” She started up a record as Alice seemed to shift position. While Alice was the most common one to keep her company in the front of the headspace, there were others and every time one of them was close enough, they controlled the shadow. Sometimes she was the shadow, which was interesting. Certainly a strange experience. She knew that her disorder didn’t cause her to become a serial killer. She was pretty certain, though the memories were fuzzy, that they had started in order to survive and perhaps to get vengeance on those who hurt her. She leaned back and imagined what Vox had to be thinking at that moment. ”And, of course, there was that debacle of a meeting Charlie had with the exorcist leader.” ”Of course, but what do you expect? I don’t know what Rosie sees in that girl.” Alice smiled again. ”A very long tongue?” ”Really?” ”I keep forgetting you’re not into …

It’s been interesting writing this story which follows some of the canon events right up until S1E2. There’s already some divergences to fit our writing…Alastora instead of Alastor as well as an oc staying at the hotel.

Seven years have passed Lilith and Rosie’s love culminated in their desire to create a child together. In that time, Alastora has thrown herself into her ‘work’ and Angel…well, she finally makes her way to Hell.

Jade: So…we loathe the ‘evil alter does evil things and good alter doesn’t know’ trope…but we also have an evil-ish character (it is Hell after all) with DID. We chose to handle it in our own way, but in the latest chapter of Where Angels Fear, we actually call it out in story.
She smiled and said “There’s all those stories about the ‘evil alter’ murdering people while the ‘good alter’ knows nothing about it.” Alastora laughed. “What tripe. That kind of writing is just malarkey and hurts people with our condition. Most people like us are harmless. Those that aren’t, well, we knew what we were doing and did so together. Specialized roles, of course. I was the hunter, from what tiny scraps I can remember, and others enjoyed the rest.”

Companion. Stolas’ scenes were moved forward by a day, but that’s it.

We didn’t bother with any other real changes. Overall, we love this story. It’s a solid story and concept. We had originally wanted to do Alastora/Velvette as a couple.

Don’t worry, Angel Dust will be back.
