text: "Striped umbrella-blubbfootses can deploy their umbrella when jumping or falling down a distance to soften their landing. Since they are soft-bodied, they get slightly stretched when floating and a bit squished when pulled to a surface. The creatures use their tubular proboscis to pierce and sucktion in food which typically consists of soft fruits. a baby striped umbrella-blubbfoots sitting on pink ground near a pink plant and 2 purple egg-pods. two parent blubbfootses are on each side of the baby, looking at it with love, one sitting, one standing. the baby is about 1/5 the size of an adult. blubbfootses are green-teal-skinned with black & white stripes on their backs, a proboscis (snabel) similar to butterflies and a bulb with pink umbrella on their heads. their legs have blubby round ends with yellow under-pads and they have 2 large black eyes. the baby has a shorter proboscis and its umbrella looks a bit like a sprouting flower. it appears the striped umbrella-blubbfoots is symbiotic with a plant-like organism on its home planet, for reproduction. two individuals can deliver gamete to a pod appearing on the plant each year and it will grow eggs, dropping them when ready to hatch. the eggs are soft-shelled and become slightly brittle nearing hatching time. the parents must nourish the incubating plant for it to grow properly. the egg will also contain seeds for the plant species. a baby blubbfoots doesn't have a fully developed umbrella. it grows as the baby does. the baby also has short blubby legs, making locomotion challenging and making the little one dependent on the parents, for both protection on feeding. the striped umbrella-blubbfoots produces the required genetic material for reproduction once a year, and all individuals have the same type of gamete and are physiologically identical. expecting blubbfoots parents typically make their home near a growing specimen of the symbiotic plant-like organism, and guard the pods vigilantly.
