Full zoom on my phone, so it was hard work keeping it steady, but I was thrilled to capture this heron preening on my quick trip to the allotments yesterday 😍 #AllotmentGardening | #GardenBirds #GreyHeron #Herons | #birdsoftheworld #birds

Even down at the allotments I couldn't escape the noise of the town's annual hop festival 😭 They do though stop the outdoor music at 6pm, which gives us quieter-loving folk something to look forward to! 😁 #allotments #allotmentgardening #gardening | #kent #england

My first seeds of the year sown! I've committed myself to trying to help out on a friend's allotment this year. Raising seedlings indoors is something I enjoy, so it's a good start (hopefully!)🤞 #allotmentgardening #vegetablegardening #gardening #Kent #England #UK

A single sunflower seedling under a "bottle top cloche." It's grown, I think, in the few days since I placed it 👍

Twelve seconds of the gentle rain this evening at the allotments. We really need more, as it only lasted a few hours, and it's the first we've had this month 😔 #allotmentgardening #allotments #gardening | #kent #england

The big pond at the allotments really is looking autumnal now! 😍 My first visit in a couple of weeks, I guess. Must get back to it! Planting garlic is at the top of my list 🧄 #Allotments #AllotmentGardening #VegGardening #Gardening #Kent #England

And that's the lettuce finally done, plus the fennel, cardoons and most of the radishes off now. From now on it'll be perpetual spinach and chard until next year.
One year I'll be organised enough to grow some winter brassicas!

The last of this year's potatoes 😋 The cherry tomatoes prior to picking. Unfortunately, I forgot to take an "after" photo 🙄😊 How the allotment looked on arrival yesterday evening. Not much left to harvest this year, just some unimpressively small leeks, I think 😁😊
