There 3 ways to make sauerkraut:
1. North German: soak in 10% salt water, rinse rinse, dry, add cream and sugar.
2. Alsacian: boil in white white with all the pork meat you can find.
3. South German: just sausage, thanks.

I am, unfortunately, both (mostly) a vegetarian and a people-pleaser, so I ate the sausage (it was a running joke about the drag queen being Alsacian) it was really fun and also sapped my entire social battery for the weekend

As an alsacian speaking our regional dialect, il would expect the same. Unfortunately France has always put a centralized cultural pressure on regional languages, especially on alsacian as it is very german.
