This porcupine arrived from Alstead this afternoon in extremely critical condition with what appears to be a very severe respiratory infection. He is struggling badly to breathe and is, honestly, a very sick little guy. 💔

I guess I drove up to Walpole one time. Once to Saxton's River to visit a friend. Checked out Orchard Hill Breadworks up in Alstead. But that's been about it.

Meet our winter guest: an Eastern Spotted Salamander, found in a basement in Alstead last December. At that time of year, there was no safe way to return him to the wild, so he spent the winter with me, brumating (the salamander version of hibernating) in a cozy setup in the basement.
