just to follow up on this again i remember writing in an essay for my sociology class at university in the 90s that for me bisexual came out of AMBIsexual - ambiguous and ambivalent, not about "two".

I didn’t even really notice til I read the afterword but genly LHOD *does* have an issue with women and it totally impacts his ability to integrate into an ambisexual society. it gives the story more meat it’s great
