Raw, timeless character: A wet plate ambrotype portrait of a man in a hat.

A wet plate ambrotype portrait of a man wearing a hat, captured on a 5x7 inch black glass plate using an early 20th-century Voigtländer field camera and a matching Voigtländer 180mm lens. The image perfectly reflects the raw, authentic nature of the ambrotype process, featuring high contrasts, striking textures, and distinct hand-crafted chemical artifacts.

and I hope watching Phee navigate two very different magic-steeped worlds to find her way through grief and family secrets to craft a life for herself, shows that you can do the same.
The cover of PSYCHOPOMP & CIRCUMSTANCE. A sepia-tone profile of a young Black woman against floral wallpaper, reminiscent of 1850s ambrotype photography. She is wearing a high-necked collar, and her coily hair is upswept to reveal dangling skull earrings. A skeletal hand rests on her shoulder. PSYCHOPOMP & CIRCUMSTANCE won the World Fantasy Award for Best Long Fiction!

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners! I’m honored to share this space with you. Enormous thanks to @audthentic.bsky.social for accepting this award on my behalf and reading my acceptance speech so beautifully.
A medusa head centerpiece (snakes alert, her eyes closed) on a silver tray covered in flowers and a faux skull in the middle of a table covered in a white cloth. There is a sign above it reading "Ancestral Futures". Beside it sits the World Fantasy Award Statue. Hands holding the World Fantasy Award statue: Image of the World Fantasy Award statue - a winding, crooked tree trunk (possibly haunted or a portal to another dimension from the hole near the base) in front of a bronze disk that may be the sun or the moon. The statue is engraved with Eden Royce Psychopomp & Circumstance World Fantasy Award 2026 Best Long Fiction The large print cover of PSYCHOPOMP & CIRCUMSTANCE. Happy 1st birthday to PSYCHOPOMP & CIRCUMSTANCE!

It's been wonderful seeing the response to this softly magical tale chronicling the magic of funeral rituals, and stepping off the path family laid for you and onto one you've chosen.

Thank you to everyone who's engaged with my novella.
