Lost in Thought | 5x7 Tintype Portrait

#Tintype #WetPlate #WetPlateCollodion #Photography #AlternativeProcess #LargeFormatPhotography #LargeFormat #FilmPhotography #PortraitPhotography #AnalogPhotography #BlackAndWhitePhotography
A high-contrast 5x7 tintype portrait of a man with a long white beard wearing a cap, captured in a deeply contemplative and lost-in-thought expression. Shot on a Plaubel large format camera with a Schneider-Kreuznach 280mm lens, the photo features dark, dramatic tones, rich contrasts, and authentic wet plate artifacts, giving the monochrome image a raw, historic, and tactile character.

Through the lens: Behind the scenes of a timeless tintype portrait.

This is what the photographer sees!

#Tintype #TintypePhotography #LargeFormatCamera #CollodionProcess #PhotographerPerspective #BehindTheLens #AnalogPhotography #WetPlateCollodion #VintageVibes #PortraitPhotography
A photographer’s view through the ground glass screen of a large format camera during a wet plate portrait session. The image of the posing woman appears upside down and horizontally flipped. This is how light naturally enters every camera; modern SLR or mirrorless cameras simply use optical pentaprisms or electronic displays to turn the image right-way up for the viewer.

Raw, timeless character: A wet plate ambrotype portrait of a man in a hat.

#Ambrotype #WetPlate #WetPlateCollodion #Tintype #AnalogPhotography #LargeFormat #Voigtlander #PortraitPhotography #AlternativeProcess
A wet plate ambrotype portrait of a man wearing a hat, captured on a 5x7 inch black glass plate using an early 20th-century Voigtländer field camera and a matching Voigtländer 180mm lens. The image perfectly reflects the raw, authentic nature of the ambrotype process, featuring high contrasts, striking textures, and distinct hand-crafted chemical artifacts.

Character portrait of a man with a white beard and white hair, captured on a 5x7 metal plate using the wet plate collodion process. The stark white of his hair and beard creates a striking contrast against the dark background, highlighting the rich monochromatic depth and detailed texture of the tintype.

Still life of the season’s last red roses from my garden, photographed in my studio against a deep, seamless black background. Dramatic lighting makes the green leaves blend almost invisibly into the darkness, creating the impression that the rich red blossoms are floating in pure black space. Wet plate collodion portrait of a man, shot in 8x10 format on a metal plate using an Intrepid 8x10 camera and a 350mm Industar lens. The image features natural focus fall-off, rich monochromatic tones, and characteristic chemical flow marks along the dark, handcrafted edges. Wide autumn landscape in East Frisia, Northern Germany, shrouded in evening mist. Fog is rising over expansive meadows, making distant trees blend mystically into the hazy atmosphere. A flock of migratory birds flies across the overcast sky.
