It’s Showa Day (a national holiday) in Japan, and I ran into a dance festival. I think these are normally performed in summer, but nowadays April is close enough! Performers played drums and flutes and the half-moon straw hats are called “amigasa” (編笠).

Since it's a amigasa (編笠) tsukumogami (付喪神), it incorporates the elements of a one-eyed, unidentified mollusk creature. It also serves as a cover for Shellmon, who is lined up in a slightly elevated way. It was designed by Moriyama Soh, who has long supported Digimon.

This is a quick colored sketch of Mizuhanome, a Lombre gijinka. Lombre are these weird little amphibious goblin duck monsters, based mostly on kappa. Mizuhanome is a human verision of that. Mizuha is a tan young lady with a round nose and earnest smile. Her big round eyes are a dark sapphire blue. Her teal hair frames her face with big bangs, and two buns tied in back. She always wears an amigasa, a Japanese straw hat that takes sort of a taco shape. She's got a bald spot under that hat, so she will never let you take it off. She wears a loose blue-green robe with tied sleeves over a green dress. Her outfit is supposed to resemble clothes from the Yayoi period of Japan (~300bc-300ad) but I took a lot of creative liberties. She's sort of leaning forward on her arms on some invisible table, smiling towards the viewer. A heart-shaped lilypad floats by her face, like an emoticon or something.

so i was watching japanese festivals earlier and-
basing her fit on this performer onee-san

Blue-eyed Samurai

Tout le monde en disait du bien, je me suis enfin décidé à le voir et... quelle foutue claque. Tout est au top : l'animation, la 3D, les personnages, l'histoire.
Rien de fondamentalement neuf (hormis le twist sur Mizu) mais tout est bien écrit. Mizu est extraordinaire.
Le visuel promotionnel de la série animée Netflix "Blue Eye Samurai. On voit le personnage principal vêtu d'un habit traditionnel japonais, d'une cape et d'un amigasa (chapeau de paille rond et large). Il porte un katana à la lame bleue glace. Au fond, la ville d'Edo. Des vagues stylisées traversent l'image et alternent entre le bleu et le rouge-orangé.
