Inchie Challenge — the week’s drawings all together. This was a fun way to play around with ideas and mediums, without being intimidating. A two-inch square takes the pressure off! Thanks to @amymaricle for this great experiment! 🎨#inchiechallenge2026

Yes! Artist Amy Maricle (@amymaricle on Insta) created this and named it. The emphasis is on small works (these are two-inch squares) and she posts a new theme every day for a week. It is a great way to get into some daily practice and experiment in a small, quick format.

Inchie Challenge begins! This daily drawing practice was created by @amymaricle and I love getting back into it. The day 1 prompt is Wildflower. I chose to draw the beautiful and intricate stamen in my Canadian anemone that is currently blooming in the rain garden. 🐡🎨 #inchiechallenge2026

In preparation for next week’s Inchie Challenge with @amymaricle I realized I have amassed a nice number of doodles over the last couple of years! It is fun to see them all together and great to see how small, regular practices come together into something bigger.🎨 #intuitivedoodle #intuitivedrawing

My 12 inchies from the @amymaricle challenge. Some I like better than others but I’m intrigued by my color choices and how much I like this grid. Lots of new starting points.

And here's a quick look at how I am gathering all my squares into a sort of smashbook. Lots of pages to finish.
It was my oldest daughter's idea and she and my granddaughter and grand daughter-in law have been sharing these each day.

Only two more days of this so enjoy.
#10 Contrast, I started my art /creative life many many years ago with just black and white, penc and pen and inks. It's been a long journey but still black and white rule.

Galactic #6 gonna go back and work on these some more but love the deep blue space. The flower was just a total "rebel" play with slanted brush.

Yup blank except literally. Although stand up and rigid and attention do come to mind now. So I just did literal stamen and they got me thinking of flowers and spring in the middle of this cold snowy weather.

Day 3 of the Inchie challenge: Shrouded. This is a 3x3 hot press watercolor paper. Maybe this represents the mysterious geography of a distant planet? Or mystery microbes escaping a petri dish? What does your imagination see? @amymaricle #inchiechallenge 🎨

Had no idea what to do with shrouded or how to depict it so went with mist and fog and veils.

Day 2 of the Inchie challenge: Rebel. This is a 3x3 hot press watercolor paper. Definitely feeling this theme. The red circle looked like an open-mouthed dinosaur so she is yelling her rebellion! @amymaricle #inchiechallenge
