After seven years racing cyclocross and road for Lidl-Trek, Shirin van Anrooij is getting a new jersey. On Thursday, Canyon-SRAM announced the Dutchwoman would join their team on November 1, with the cyclocross season in mind. In 2027, she will ride for their WorldTeam as a leader in the Classics with an eye on developing her into one of their key stars. "Shirin is exceptionally versatile, with a strong aerobic engine and the ability to perform across a wide range of terrain and race scenarios," said Canyon-SRAM's Director of Performance Dan Fleeman. "She can climb, handle demanding one-day races and stay competitive when races become long and physically demanding. Her resilience and race intelligence make her a particularly complete rider." Van Anrooij will continue her road season with Lidl-Trek as planned, but because the cyclocross season starts before the year ends, she will leave her long-time team before January 1. "She brings immediate quality, but also considerable long-term potential, especially given her strong competitive mentality and desire to keep improving," said Fleeman. "With more experience, Shirin can continue to refine her positioning, decision-making and tactical confidence, while bringing all of her strengths together to more consistently convert the opportunities she creates into results." Van Anrooij will join Zoe Backstedt, who also splits her season for Canyon-SRAM between cyclocross and road.
