Sounds like an anthrocentrism problem, seeing maleness as the "default"

"Nonhumans are all abominable horrors that must be cleansed so that Man has clean earth in which to till & orderly skies to chart with math" and "nonhumans are all Basically Just Marginalized People with similar beefs & as such always the justified party" are both crude anthrocentrism & presentism.

Once again, anthrocentrism is my undoing.

This is a minor annoyance and reveals my anthrocentrism, but I really hate how Mosscap is constantly "I am not people, I am an object." Sorry but you're fucking people. You have fucking ennui!
Haven't read her space books, but yeah. Like it's all the ennui of 2 people, well one person and one robot (the robot constantly insists it's Not People, it is a thing.)

Unfortunately there'll always be a level of anthrocentrism present within the majority population without a deep and thorough discussion of it

It still makes me laugh that mainstream scientists insisted well into the 90s that there was little to no sentience in nonhuman animals. Their use of "anthrocentrism" was wrongheaded & *maddening.*
So we had an earthquake today, and something amazing happened…

You mean planets in the asteroid belt. The current definition was explicitly made to limit the number of planets so the word planet would remain special feeling, it's anthrocentrism in the 21st century and doesn't belong in science.

This is us. Our demented anthrocentrism denies us unity with our brothers and sisters.

Don't forget Section 31 from Star Trek (the real one from DS9, not the toothless thing from the recent movie).

I never get tired of angles like that because anthrocentrism feels baked into every society, and we need stories that step outside that box and examine those perceived axioms.

Stories, or narratives, are a subset of myth. Just as anthropomorphism is a subset of anthrocentrism. Not all myth is story.

First: Artificial precisely means Artisan..anthrocentrism is just another form of 'othering'
Second, humans cause machine spirits to consume the way they do, and humans are not fundamentally different than machines. Who is really to blame?

anthrocentrism is a serious problem in biology because humanity really isn't ready to deal with the ethical complications of acknowledging that sapience isn't unique to humans, discuss

1. Downgrading dragons, or how modern fantasy authors seem to be tired of "dragons are powerful" trope.
Decades ago we had series with less anthrocentrism, where non-humanoids, especially dragons - didn't just play a role, bigger than being just monsters, but also being the strongest/among strongest

As good as Andor was, I'm honestly a little confused by the complete lack of non-human main characters, bar one, especially considering how the Empire's xenophobia/anthrocentrism is so prominent in other media. Not to mention how many times alien characters act as the mouthpiece of the Empire.

I firmly believe that if Arc finished he could and would stop Emperor. He's legitimately that guy. He will not make the same mistakes as his father. He and Kamui and Baku will carve a new future not through exclusionary anthrocentrism like Getter but through actual understanding. I love Arc sm....

think this just indicates that for me, specifically, unfettered anthrocentrism is artistically deleterious
