And similarly, writing a grammar to use with ANTLR or Megaparsec or Tree-sitter or whatever is always going to be faster than "Claude, write me a parser for a language with the following spec...". But a world is being created where no one thinks to consider that.

Not from this weekend, but I have to brag about this slide: I defined a list of code samples which are each highlighted by Storyboard using an ANTLR parser, and each transition is completely automatic thanks to a "MagicText" Composable.

Recording of our "port avro-tools' Java-based idl-to-json tool to Rust using an LLM" adventure is now on YouTube! We got to an initial working implementation in ~4hrs (though still bugs to iron out in future iterations), which isn't too shabby! Code at github.com/jonhoo/avdl.

Assuming you have to write a quick parser for a few sanity checks, would you prefer:
- A regex (good luck with recursion, it's possible)
- A state machine
- A hand written recursive descent parser
- A generated parser (e.g. ANTLR, etc.)
- Other?
Please comment with your experience.

I can’t reproduce it right now, but tonight I saw an error message from antlr (a tool used in writing compilers) saying that the end of the file was “completely unexpected”.
