A Magical Girl Rehired by #ParkSeolyeon, translated by #antonhur is a delightful book two in the series, available December 6, 2026 by #HarperVia. It does a great job of developing and describing while maintaining the relatability and heart of the characters and conflicts. It's a fun read!

I loved finding a note at the end of this novel by the cover art. He celebrates working with the landscapes and worlds created by the author, #antonhur #stephenbrayda

From previous years, three books I read from the IBP were “The Vegetarian” by Han Kang (she won the Nobel Prize most recently) and “Heaven” by Mieko Kawakami, which I still cannot shake off. Bora Chung’s “Cursed Bunny,” translated by #antonhur, was also great if you’re into speculative fiction.

@antonhur I know you don’t have your replies on so I just wanted to let you know I finished your book “Toward Eternity” and I want to compliment you on the most intensely dense world building within a singular first chapter that I’ve ever experienced. Also, your S. Korean politics coverage is peak.

Thanks to @antonhur for this thread. I really hope the military in the US are reading it. They too are going to face some difficult choices in the coming months.
Oh wow, we already have them.

"We were told it was an operation to fight North Korean infiltrators. But when we got off the bus, we realized we were at the National Assembly."

"We realized the op was against unarmed civilians only when we arrived . . . I am sorry. I feel ashamed."

This thread on the military being sent to South Korea’s National Assembly is astounding. (Especially the first hand accounts from special ops). Deep thanks to @antonhur who not only translates literature but newspapers for us.
