I love these guys so much. Their album last year was in contention for my AOTY across all genres. Very challenging and supremely rewarding for those with the patience and fortitude. What an incredible amount of material on this album, too.

an avant-garde japanese folk prog metal concept album about the stages of a corpse's decomposition. so yeah, it's AOTY material. need to listen to more from this band as soon as possible. must-listen for metal fans.

It's not quite AOTY material for me, but even as a non-gamer, the fighting gamer girls are gonna be up there for me I think, depending on how they do an ending of a continuing manga.

This beauty from Railcard is out next Friday and we can’t wait for you all the hear it! Brilliant soft/folk/garage pop from an ace group of indiepop lifers who have really knocked it out of the park here. AOTY material, supergroup or not.

This is AOTY material. Kele’s vocals and lyrics just really hit.
Bloc party’s new album is so queer. It’s making me happy. Also it’s just fantastic.

On my knees for Spirit Circle anime to be done justice, genuinely AotY material if the adaptation is able to capture the strengths of the manga. Mizukami really deserves an anime that lives up to how fantastic his manga are, I really hope this is the one

I went to the Phoebe Bridgers Lost Weekend planetarium thing last night.
It was so cool to see 400 people show up to listen to a record. Everyone was incredibly quiet. The album is easily AOTY material. No phones allowed inside.

ohhh that’s interesting… while i don’t think that album is AOTY material, it should definitely be nominated in the main category, so it makes more sense if that’s the issue

i mean they could just submit to the main category if they wanted to right? i don’t get what would stop them. i guess i get that it could feel like a consolation prize or like they’re being set up not to win the main category but like… maybe it’s just the timing. that album is not AOTY material imo…

New Listen: Genesis Owusu - Redstar Wu & the Worldwide Scourge (9/10)
blunt, perhaps, but cathartic, like smashing your computer with a baseball bat. painfully real and delightfully angry lyrics, but it'd be worth listening for owusu's signature killer post-punk/soul beats alone. AOTY material.
