Age of Wonders 4 is really, really good in its current state. It manages to combine the best elements of AOW2 and AOW3 and discard most of each's weaknesses.

I never played AoW4. I did play some of AoW3 and really enjoyed it. I think I played more of AoW: Planetfall though.

Been playing way too much AoW3, and I wanted to draw this to commemorate my little druid victory. I managed to scratch out a painful win with hundreds of hunters, and a few horned gods, so this one's for the hunters.
(Although, my hunters were actually goblins, and not elves.)😅

AOW2 was more fun than AOW3. AOW3 had some very interesting mechanics but on the whole it just didn't fit together right.
But AOW4 has a much more flexible style of gameplay, with the best research and advancement system of any of the series. Battles are way more fun, too.

AOW2 was more fun than AOW3. AOW3 had some very interesting mechanics but on the whole it just didn't fit together right.

Good, did a little sketch commission. Got paid. Played more AoW3, had a little dwarven theocrat game. Watched that new circus episode, liked it, than started a "quick" piece that took 5 hours to complete. Oops.😅

My only critique so far is the time it takes to play a game. In AoW3 I can play a full game in 2 hours, but my average game in AoW4 is 5 hours. The turns are much slower, I'm cause I'm playing civilization 6 with every one of my cities, and I'm sorting through dozens of tech, and talent trees.

I really want to try Age Of Wonders 4, but I don't want to pay ~NZ$120 for the premium version which I'd like, judging by the hours I've put into AOW3. SIGH.
