Really, all this thread is a wonder to read as a Belgian.

How much do you pay to go to the dentist ? I pay around 20 €. Going to the doctor is 5 €. When my daughter was in need of an urgent appendicectomy, we ran to the hospital first, check our accounts next. It was a few hundreds €.

Dunno, I presented fully septic so I've very little memory of the days around my appendicectomy. Weeks later I was surprised how much the stitches on my laparoscopy sites 'pulled' though- I would reach for something and get a feeling like a sharp pinch on the skin.
