#appointments
Gender services in the UK are designed with a bottleneck for first appointments.

Once in, they’re designed to trap trans people in a perpetual cycle of proving themselves.

This way, the NHS can claim they’re increasing appointments, while helping less trans people 😣
It's clear from the number of total appointments that services remain focusing on people 'already in the system', and other data from England shows that people are remaining in the system for longer.

Things I'll wake up at the ass-crack of dawn for:
🟢Vet appointments (🔴but not my own medical appointments)
🟢Grandparent caregiving
🟢Loved ones who need rides to medical appointments or the airport
🟢Cancelling out the vote of the worst person in my county

In fact, first appointments have gone down in relative terms.

In 2018/2019, 1st appointments comprised 10.7% of all appointments, which has dropped to 7.4% this year.

And this is despite the number of total appointments offered by services more than doubling in the same period (+47,211)

So far I have spent my morning scheduling appointments 🫠 I’m tired 😭

A bigger factor is however, that the number of 1st appointments hasn't increased with either referral demand or any attempt to address growing waiting lists - initial appointments (which are numerically low) have increased by 38% (+1677), while referrals have increased by 40% (+4069) since 2018/2019

It’s also due to Tommy Tuberville stalling appointments & promotions from 2021-2023.

This has been the long game for some time from the Reich Wing.

After the second design history the other week I still had *a lot* in my head. So here’s a brain dump on NHS appointments: nine problems worth owning, where I’d start, and why counting appointments in the App is the wrong measure.

PTs saved my life in 2003! 6 appointments a week for over two years and then 2-3 appointments a week fo several more years. They don’t get enough credit for the work they do.

Having just had to reschedule four allergy appointments because I can’t go off Zyrtec yet, I’m so sorry. It sucks so hard.

In a functioning political party Jefferies as the Dems house leader would strip Stevens of any of her appointments, funding, and so on that he can because of this. I would be shocked if he did anything at all
